AASAN IMPACT

Why we do it

People and prosperity, now and in the future.

Looking ahead to 2030 and the responsibility placed on industry to contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Paris Climate Agreement, Aasan Impact works to secure the competitive presence of business. As sustainable partners in the value-chain, companies have a unique opportunity to “build back better” as they overcome the global economic downturn, and find their sweet spot of doing well and doing good.

Aasan Impact pledges its efforts towards the following SDGs, creating a clear path for organizations to contribute as profitable drivers to today’s social and environmental challenges.

SDG #8- Decent Work & Economic Growth

Aasan Impact works with industry to promote sustainable development via economic growth, poverty eradication, and employment creation. Sustainable development is designed to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

SDG #12- Responsible Consumption & Production

The global value chain is being held to account for responsible consumption and production. Organizations that embrace these activities, pioneering circular innovation, will serve as industry leaders and enjoy a competitive advantage.

SDG #13- Climate Action

Heavy regulations are being imposed on big business to meet zero carbon emissions over the next decade. With larger companies increasingly being required to report on indirect emissions from their value chains, organizations need a clear understanding of their emissions to be able to report on them and secure their position within the supply chain.

“Given that net zero inherently involves the whole value chain of any business, including its supply chains, we're going to see increased scrutiny on medium-sized enterprises and eventually the smallest ones”

Businesses are central to the “green transformation” and those committed to examining their carbon footprint will enjoy increased profitability and market share.

SDG #17- Partnerships for the Goals

Industry, Government and Not-for-Profit Partnerships

To affect change across industries and regions, Aasan Impact works with organizations to seek impact through collaboration. Forming pro-competitive strategic alliances to set new industry standards, promoting technological innovation, garnering government subsidies and support, and partnering with not-for-profits who share a common purpose.

Many of today’s societal, environmental, and business challenges can only be tackled by different sectors working together, creating impact at scale. These partnerships have the potential to create opportunities for economic growth, improved quality of life, reduced poverty and enhanced trust between public and private sector partners.

Why Climate Action? What’s the urgency?

It is safe to say that climate change is a reality. The last 18 to 20 years have been the hottest on record. 2020 was the hottest year on record despite Covid-19 lockdowns.

Without additional commitments to decarbonization, the planet is on track for 3.2 degrees of warming. This is also linked to an increased likelihood of pandemics, extreme weather events, droughts, flooding and widespread destabilization of global food, economic and security systems. Emissions need to be reduced by 50% to get to 1.5 degrees by 2030 to get this under control. Left unchecked, global warming will undo gains made to the UN SDGs including poverty alleviation, hunger, good health and well-being. It will undo economic recovery.

Now is the time to take action.
